Rubio Promises Unwavering Effort to Free Hostages in Gaza

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has pledged to work "tirelessly" to secure the release of all hostages held by Hamas, according to a statement released by the State Department. Rubio conveyed this commitment during a phone call with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Friday morning.

Rubio began by congratulating Israel on the recent release of three hostages as part of a ceasefire agreement. He emphasized his dedication to ensuring the freedom of all remaining captives in Gaza, highlighting the United States' continued support for Israel during this critical time.

In their conversation, Rubio also welcomed the ongoing delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, underscoring the need to balance humanitarian concerns with Israel’s security needs. He further praised Israel for its efforts in countering threats from Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as its role in pursuing a ceasefire with Lebanon.

The secretary stressed that Israel’s ceasefire with Lebanon reflects a shared understanding of the broader challenge posed by Iran's influence in the region. "The pursuit of peace in the region requires addressing the threats posed by Iran," Rubio reportedly said during the call.

This discussion with Sa’ar came just a day after Rubio spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In that conversation, the two leaders also focused on the ongoing hostage crisis, regional security threats, and Iran’s destabilizing actions.

Rubio’s outreach extended beyond Israel, as he held separate discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed. These talks addressed issues ranging from Gaza to regional conflicts in Syria and Lebanon, reflecting a coordinated approach to Middle Eastern stability.
