Russia Accuses US and Israel of Expanding Middle East Conflict
Moscow claims Washington and Jerusalem are provoking Iran in a way that could draw Arab Gulf states deeper into the war.

Russia has accused the United States and Israel of attempting to expand the ongoing Middle East conflict by provoking Iran into launching strikes that could draw Arab nations into the war.
The statement from Moscow comes as tensions across the region continue to escalate following the joint U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Iranian targets.
In a statement released Thursday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry claimed that the United States and Israel had deliberately created conditions that triggered Iranian retaliation against countries across the region.
According to the ministry, those retaliatory strikes have already resulted in casualties and damage to infrastructure in several Arab states.
“They deliberately provoked Iran into retaliatory strikes against targets in some Arab countries,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry added that these attacks had caused “human and material losses,” which Russia said it deeply regrets.
Russian officials argued that the unfolding events could drag Arab Gulf states into a broader conflict.
“In doing so, they are trying to drag the Arabs into a war for someone else’s interests,” the statement continued.
Several Gulf nations many of which maintain strong security partnerships with the United States have reported Iranian drone and missile attacks since the strikes on Iran began.
These incidents have raised fears of a wider regional war involving multiple countries.
Amid the rising tensions, Russian President Vladimir Putin held phone calls earlier in the week with leaders from four Gulf Arab states.
During the conversations, Putin offered to use Russia’s diplomatic ties with Tehran to relay concerns from regional governments about Iranian strikes, particularly those targeting oil infrastructure.
Russia has historically maintained working relationships with both Iran and several Gulf states, positioning itself as a potential intermediary in times of regional crisis.
Moscow’s comments reflect a widening diplomatic divide over the military campaign targeting Iran.
While Israel and the United States say their operations aim to dismantle threats posed by Tehran’s missile program, nuclear ambitions, and regional proxy networks, Russia has repeatedly criticized the strikes and warned of the risk of wider instability.
The situation remains highly fluid as military operations continue and regional actors assess their next steps.
As the Middle East faces one of its most volatile moments in years, global powers are increasingly weighing in on the direction of the conflict and its potential consequences.
