Gideon Sa’ar in India Emphasizes Joint Fight Against Terror
Israeli leaders clash over reported deal to permit militants' withdrawal from Gaza buffer zone.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar underscored the deepening alliance between Israel and India during a high-level diplomatic visit to New Delhi on Tuesday, where he met with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Against the backdrop of growing global security concerns, Sa’ar reaffirmed Israel’s determination to eliminate the Hamas terror regime and build a long-term strategic partnership with India.
“Radical terror is a mutual threat to Israel and India,” Sa’ar said, condemning the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, India. Drawing parallels between terror threats in both nations, he named Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis as part of a regional axis of terrorism, calling them “terror states” that must be uprooted to ensure lasting stability.
He made it clear that Israel will not compromise on the total disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza. “The eradication of the Hamas terror state is at the heart of US President Donald Trump’s plan,” Sa’ar declared. His remarks came as both nations reiterated shared values and a common resolve to confront global and regional threats.
Sa’ar praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the first global leader to reach out to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the October 7 Hamas massacre. “We won’t forget it,” Sa’ar said, describing India as “the world’s largest democracy and fastest growing economy,” and Israel as “a regional powerhouse.”
The meeting also focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, especially in areas of regional connectivity and economic growth. Sa’ar expressed Israel’s strong support for international initiatives like I2U2 and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) both designed to enhance infrastructure and digital links between South Asia, West Asia, and Europe.
Indian Prime Minister Modi has voiced support for diplomatic solutions to the Gaza conflict, including President Trump’s recent peace proposal, which he hailed as a “step toward lasting peace.” Modi welcomed the first phase of the plan and emphasized the importance of releasing all hostages.
India and Israel’s relationship continues to evolve, rooted in shared democratic values and a mutual understanding of the challenges posed by terrorism. With diplomatic, defense, and technological cooperation on the rise, this visit marked another step in solidifying a partnership that is both strategic and deeply personal.
