Hebrew Course Equips Overseas Workers to Work in Israel

“Shalom Namaste” readies Indian, Sri Lankan, and Thai recruits linguistically and culturally before they arrive.

Overseas workers headed for Israel’s construction and industrial sectors are now being given a head start. A new initiative called Shalom Namaste, launched by Dynamic Staffing Services in collaboration with Workforce24, teaches Hebrew and cultural skills before they reach Israeli job sites.

The 13‑week program delivers a hybrid curriculum: live online classes, recorded lessons, and practice materials. It also weaves in English and workplace-specific vocabulary to help recruits hit the ground running.

In India, around 4,800 workers are currently enrolled, and about 500 have already completed the training. Israel-based employers facing a shortage of skilled labor in sectors like construction requested that enrollment open soon to workers from Sri Lanka and Thailand.

The need is urgent. After the October 7 attacks, Palestinian workers were barred from entering Israel, intensifying the labor shortfall in construction. Indian workers helped fill part of that gap, but employers found communication and adjustment challenges limiting their productivity.

Leading Israeli companies have adopted the idea early. Shikun & Binui, via its foreign‑workers arm Solel Boneh, and Flyshn Ltd., a labor contractor, participated in the pilot program.

Sameer Khosla, chairman of Dynamic, explained the rationale: in some Gulf states, foreign workers already benefit from established diaspora communities, making adaptation easier. In Israel, workers often enter a social and linguistic gap. The Shalom Namaste course aims to soften that landing.

Beyond everyday communication, the program seeks to boost safety, cooperation, and morale. Workers who understand instructions in Hebrew (or a mix of Hebrew and English) are less likely to face misunderstandings on complex or hazardous worksites.

As demand grows, the program may scale further. More recruits, better-prepared, will accelerate integration into Israeli workplaces. Israel’s industries with foundation in innovation, diligence, and partnership benefit when every worker arrives ready, respectful, and capable.
