Award Victory for Shira Haas at Monte Carlo Festival

Acclaimed actress honored for her role in the new series Night Therapy.

Renowned Israeli actress Shira Haas has won the Golden Nymph Jury Prize at the 63rd Monte Carlo International Television Festival for her performance in the upcoming series Night Therapy, produced by Yes Studios. This prestigious accolade underscores Haas's talent and the emotional depth she brings to her roles.

Night Therapy stars Yousef “Joe” Sweid as a recently widowed therapist who treats patients during the night, with Lucy Ayoub playing his sister. The series is set to be released on June 30 in Israel on Yes VOD and Sting+. Sweid, attending the festival, accepted the award on behalf of Haas and promised to deliver it to her.

In a heartfelt video message from America, where she is currently filming a new project, Haas expressed her gratitude: “Hello everyone, thank you for this incredible honor. I wish I could be there with you right now... Night Therapy is a series about healing, about grief, about love – and I love this series so much. This role is meaningful for me on the most personal level, so thank you Raanan [Caspi], our creator and writer of the show.”

She continued by thanking Sweid, the entire cast and crew, and her family, making a poignant mention of her mother, who passed away in 2022. “I want to thank my mom, whom I miss every day and every moment, and like everything in my life, this incredible achievement is thanks to her and for her,” Haas added.

Haas, celebrated for her roles in Shtisel and Unorthodox, also won the Best Actress Award at the Tribeca Festival in 2020 for her role in Asia. She is set to portray the superhero Sabra in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World alongside Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie, scheduled for release in 2025.

In other festival news, the Israeli documentary Table for Eight, directed by Ben Shani, was nominated for the Golden Nymph Award in the News and Documentaries category. Although it did not win, Shani presented the film, which recounts the harrowing story of Abigail Mor Edan. Abigail, an American citizen, was kidnapped from her home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza by terrorists on October 7, celebrated her fourth birthday in captivity, and was released following a hostage deal in November. The documentary also covers the survival of her two older siblings and their subsequent adoption by their aunt and uncle.

Table for Eight offers a gripping and emotional narrative, illustrating the resilience and hope amidst tragedy. Clips with English subtitles are available on Stand4Israel.

Shira Haas’s recent achievement at Monte Carlo adds another milestone to her impressive career, highlighting her exceptional talent and the global recognition of Israeli cinema and television.
