Tom Brady wears ‘Stand Up to Jewish Hate’ pin at statue unveiling
NFL icon uses career milestone to make rare public statement against antisemitism.

NFL legend Tom Brady marked the unveiling of his towering 17-foot statue outside Gillette Stadium with an understated but unmistakable political gesture: a blue “Stand Up to Jewish Hate” pin on his lapel.
The symbol represents the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS), launched by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft in 2019 to mobilize Americans against antisemitism and all forms of hate. The unveiling ceremony, held before the Patriots’ preseason kickoff against the Washington Commanders, drew thousands of fans and former teammates.
“Tommy, you have not only etched your name in NFL history you’ve etched it in all of our hearts,” Kraft said as the bronze figure fist raised high was revealed.
Brady’s decision to wear the pin was notable given his usual reluctance to engage in overt political expression. In 2016, he distanced himself from political commentary after media scrutiny over his ties to then-President Donald Trump. But in recent years, Brady has spoken out firmly against antisemitism, including a post following the Hamas attacks of October 7: “There should be no gray area about condemning Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israeli citizens. No human deserves this.” He added that his family was praying for all innocent victims in Israel and Gaza.
Earlier this year, Brady appeared alongside Snoop Dogg in a Super Bowl ad promoting the FCAS’s message. His ties to the Jewish community are personal as well: he has visited Israel multiple times, prayed at the Western Wall, met with IDF soldiers, and has family connections through his sister’s marriage to former MLB player Kevin Youkilis. He also shares a close friendship with ex-Patriots star Julian Edelman, a prominent advocate against antisemitism.
By wearing the pin during one of the biggest honors of his post-football life, Brady used his platform to align his public image, personal values, and influence with a clear stand against antisemitism.
