Truck Driver Survives Missile Strike While Delivering Aid to Needy Families
Yad Ezra V’Shulamit drivers risk their lives to feed northern Israel under missile fire.
In a harrowing ordeal, a driver for Yad Ezra V’Shulamit narrowly survived a missile attack while delivering food baskets to families in need in northern Israel. The driver, Yaakov, was en route to Tzfat with a truckload of supplies for 200 families when a barrage of missiles from the north forced him to stop on the highway.
“I heard the sirens, got out of the truck, laid on the ground with my hands over my head, and prayed. It was terrifying,” Yaakov recounted. “I saw the Iron Dome intercept the missiles. I’ve never felt so exposed and vulnerable in my life, but I knew people were waiting for these food baskets.”
Yad Ezra V’Shulamit, a vital organization providing food to those in need across Israel, faces increasing challenges as missile attacks and evacuations in the north escalate. Despite the growing danger, the organization’s drivers, like Yaakov, continue to brave the roads to ensure that food reaches families who rely on this lifeline.
“These drivers are true heroes,” said Aryeh Lurie, founder of Yad Ezra V’Shulamit. “We must protect them.”
To safeguard the lives of these brave individuals, Yad Ezra V’Shulamit is seeking donations to provide each driver with bulletproof vests and helmets. The cost is $1,550 per driver, and with 25 drivers, the total needed is $38,750.
