Trump Former Israeli Foes Now Seek Entry to Abraham Accords
Former president hints at expanded normalization and reflects on missed opportunities with Iran.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that multiple countries are showing renewed interest in joining the Abraham Accords, the landmark peace agreements his administration brokered between Israel and several Arab states.
Speaking on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Trump said, “We already have some great countries involved, and I think we’re going to start loading them up,” suggesting that additional normalization deals may be on the horizon.
While stressing that Iran remains the region’s most dangerous threat, Trump surprised viewers by recalling a moment when even Tehran might have been open to peace. “There was a time I thought Iran may join. They would’ve been better off if they did,” he reflected, indicating how different the region could look today had that possibility materialized.
Trump also touched on Syria, revealing that he eased certain U.S. sanctions on the Assad regime during his first term at the request of regional allies. “Sometimes you get more with honey than with vinegar,” he said, highlighting his belief in using diplomacy alongside strategic pressure.
The former president further detailed the recent U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, describing a precision mission targeting a site “30 stories beneath granite” and executed by American pilots over a 36-hour period. He dismissed media reports questioning the strike’s effectiveness as “fake news,” emphasizing that uranium is not easily moved or hidden. “It’s too dangerous, too heavy. That’s not how it works,” Trump said bluntly.
In a Truth Social post, Trump disclosed that he had once rejected a joint U.S.-Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, claiming, “I actually saved him from a very ugly and ignominious death.” The statement adds a dramatic twist to his legacy of power diplomacy in the Middle East.
Trump’s comments highlight the continued relevance of the Abraham Accords as a cornerstone of regional peacebuilding. While Iran remains far from normalization, other nations are now reportedly exploring the possibility of formalizing ties with Israel extending the momentum that began in 2020 with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan.
These developments affirm Israel’s growing diplomatic clout and the enduring impact of strategic vision coupled with decisive action.
