Trump Administration Halts $50 Million Funding for ‘Terror Condoms’ in Gaza

Funding freeze includes controversial birth control aid allegedly misused for attacks on Israel.

The Trump administration has frozen $50 million in U.S. aid earmarked for Gaza, citing concerns over its potential misuse. Among the halted funds was a controversial program supplying birth control supplies, which, in the past, has reportedly been repurposed by terrorists for attacks against Israel.

At a White House briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the Office of Budget Management (OBM) flagged the funds before they were distributed. "There was about to be $50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza," Leavitt revealed.

While U.S. foreign aid often supports reproductive health initiatives worldwide, questions have been raised about how such supplies are actually used in Gaza. In 2020, The Jerusalem Post reported that terror groups were inflating condoms to launch IED-carrying balloons into Israel, igniting farmland, endangering schoolchildren, and causing millions of shekels in damage.

The Trump administration’s aid freeze comes amid heightened scrutiny following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, massacre, in which terrorists brutally murdered over 1,200 people and abducted hundreds. Despite these atrocities, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) objected to restrictions on aid to Gaza, arguing that such limitations would jeopardize "life-saving sexual and reproductive healthcare."

Critics argue that any resources sent to Gaza risk being exploited by Hamas and its affiliates. Some policymakers maintain that no U.S. funds should go toward rebuilding Gaza as long as Hamas remains in control, fearing that even humanitarian aid is being weaponized against Israel.

As the region remains volatile, the Trump administration’s latest move underscores a shift in U.S. policy prioritizing security over unchecked aid distribution.
