Trump Warns Hamas "If They Keep Killing, We Will Go In and Kill Them"

After hostage release, U.S. president threatens military response if Hamas violates ceasefire deal.

President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Hamas on Thursday, saying the U.S. would not hesitate to act militarily if the terror group continues to kill in Gaza, violating the terms of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them.”

The statement follows growing Israeli frustration that while all 20 living hostages have now been returned, Hamas has so far only handed over 9 of the 28 bodies of the deceased Israeli captives despite the deal requiring their immediate release.

In a call with CNN on Wednesday, Trump said he would allow Israel to resume fighting if Hamas does not uphold its commitments:

“Israel will return to those streets as soon as I say the word. If Israel could go in and knock the crap out of them, they’d do that.”

According to CNN, the president emphasized that securing the release of the living hostages had been the top priority: “Getting those 20 hostages out was paramount.”

Trump has received bipartisan praise in Israel for his involvement in negotiating the ceasefire-hostage release agreement. However, the issue of the remaining 19 bodies continues to cast a shadow over the deal, and could signal a potential breakdown in the fragile truce.

Following a Thursday discussion with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and defense officials, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Trump to discuss next steps.

While the U.S. has not committed troops on the ground, Trump’s Thursday remarks are the strongest indication yet that continued violations by Hamas could lead to direct U.S. military action.
