Trump says hostages return only possible after Hamas destroyed

Former US President demands total defeat of Hamas as mediator talks show renewed momentum.

Former US President Donald Trump issued a firm statement on Monday declaring that the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza hinges on one outcome the destruction of Hamas.

Posting to Truth Social, Trump wrote, “We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed!!! The sooner this takes place, the better the chances of success will be.”

He followed up by reminding the public of his own track record in dealing with hostage crises and foreign conflicts. “Remember, I was the one who negotiated and got hundreds of hostages freed and released into Israel (and America!). I was the one who ended 6 wars, in just 6 months,” he asserted.

In a bold closing to his post, Trump added, “I was the one who OBLITERATED Iran’s Nuclear facilities. Play to WIN, or don’t play at all! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

As Trump’s comments circulated, fresh reports from the Middle East indicated that behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts are gathering pace. According to Qatar’s Al-Araby TV, a recent high-level meeting between Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber al Thani, Palestinian factions, and Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel was described as constructive. The meeting reportedly reflected a “heightened sense of responsibility and determination to end the war.”

Qatar’s prime minister arrived in Egypt on Monday, reinforcing the role of regional mediators in attempting to reach a new agreement. During this visit, Egyptian and Qatari officials presented Hamas with an updated ceasefire proposal, which was discussed alongside several Palestinian groups.

While some Palestinian factions allegedly accepted the terms, according to Saudi-based Al-Arabiya, Hamas itself has requested more time to consider the proposal.

These developments unfold as pressure mounts on Hamas to agree to terms that would secure the release of the hostages and bring about a long-overdue halt to the violence. Yet, with Trump’s voice adding weight to demands for a decisive defeat of Hamas, the international narrative remains clear there is no room for compromise with terror.

As Israel continues its mission to dismantle Hamas’s infrastructure and bring its people home, it also serves as a reminder of the strength, moral clarity, and determination that define the Jewish state. Standing firm in the face of global pressure, Israel remains a bastion of courage and purpose.
