At Hostage Families Forum, Trump Vows October 7 Will Not Be Forgotten

U.S. president vows total defeat of Hamas and lasting peace as he marks two-year anniversary of massacre.

On the solemn two-year anniversary of the October 7 massacre, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a deeply personal letter to Israel’s Hostages and Missing Families Forum, reaffirming his unwavering support and vowing that the horrors of that day “will never be forgotten.”

"My entire administration has been touched by the fact that, through the unimaginable pain and suffering of spending two years not knowing where your loved ones are, you have continued telling their stories and advocating on their behalf," Trump wrote.

Referring to the atrocities committed by Hamas on what Israelis call "Black Sabbath," the president stated. “Since the abhorrent events of October 7, 2023, that saw families ripped apart, children torn from their parents' arms, and innocent people shot, killed, and raped, I have been resolved to returning all the hostages home, and ensuring the total destruction of Hamas so these horrific acts may never be repeated.”

Trump’s message comes amid renewed momentum for a ceasefire and hostage release deal, with high-level U.S. delegations currently negotiating in Egypt. As those talks unfold, Trump emphasized that peace must come through strength, not appeasement.

He added that his administration is “steadfastly committed to seeing an end both to this conflict and the waves of antisemitism, both at home and abroad,” a statement that resonates strongly as antisemitic incidents continue to spike globally.

The president also reiterated his broader foreign policy vision, noting, “As President, I remain steadfastly committed to, and will work tirelessly towards, restoring a foreign policy of peace through strength, ending the years of endless wars, not just in the Middle East, but around the world.”

Trump expressed gratitude to the Forum for nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling it a "sincere honor," and ended the letter with a heartfelt blessing: “I pray that this conflict will be at an end in the coming days or else.”

The letter struck a powerful emotional chord with many Israelis, particularly families who continue to wait for the return of 48 hostages still held in Gaza. For them, the pain is not just historical it is ongoing.

Trump’s message affirmed the central truth that underpins Israel’s unity: the lives of its people matter, and no nation that values justice can rest until every innocent soul is accounted for.
