Trump Demands End to Netanyahu Trial Calls It a Witch Hunt

Former US president slams prosecution and hails Netanyahu as Israel’s greatest modern leader.

In a fiery post that has reverberated across political circles in both Jerusalem and Washington, former US President Donald Trump lashed out at the ongoing criminal trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, labeling it a “witch hunt” and calling for its immediate end.

Writing Thursday on his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed shock that prosecutors were continuing what he called a “ridiculous” case against the Israeli premier. Trump hailed Netanyahu as a “warrior” and “great hero,” particularly in light of his leadership during Israel’s recent confrontation with Iran.

“We just went through HELL together,” Trump declared, referring to the high-stakes conflict. He praised Netanyahu for leading with strength and resolve, saying, “There is nobody in Israel’s History that fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu.”

Trump didn't stop there. He went so far as to suggest that if the trial continues, Netanyahu should be pardoned, echoing sentiments often voiced by the prime minister himself that the charges against him are politically motivated.

Calling the prosecution “unthinkable,” Trump accused Israel’s judicial system of being manipulated by a “Deep State” that seeks to undermine right-wing leadership. “This travesty of ‘justice’ can not be allowed!” he insisted.

Netanyahu’s Likud party wasted no time in amplifying Trump’s endorsement, sharing a Hebrew translation of the remarks across its social media platforms. The statement quickly made headlines and energized Netanyahu supporters, many of whom view the ongoing legal proceedings as part of a broader political campaign to remove him from office.

Netanyahu has repeatedly denied all charges, framing his trial as a direct assault on democratic choice. In a social media video posted earlier this year, he directly compared his legal troubles to Trump’s, asserting that both are victims of judicial systems weaponized by left-wing elites to sabotage conservative governance.

“In America and in Israel,” Netanyahu stated, “when a strong right-wing leader wins an election, the leftist Deep State weaponizes the justice system to thwart the people’s will.”

As Trump remains a towering figure in US politics and a staunch ally of Israel, his intervention is likely to influence public discourse and potentially galvanize international support for Netanyahu’s position. The post also reinforces the deep ideological bond between the two leaders, united not just by shared policy goals but by personal narratives of political persecution.
