Israeli President Isaac Herzog has revealed that former U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and possibly Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss regional issues, including Trump’s controversial proposal to take over and redevelop the Gaza Strip.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Herzog did not specify when or where the meetings would take place but emphasized the importance of engaging with key Arab leaders. “These are partners that must be listened to. We have to honor their feelings as well and see how we build a plan that is sustainable for the future,” Herzog stated.
Trump is also expected to meet with Jordan’s King Abdullah in the coming days, a meeting that Jordan’s state media has already confirmed. However, Jordan has strongly opposed Trump’s Gaza plan, with reports indicating that King Abdullah will warn that the proposal risks fueling further radicalism and destabilizing the region.
Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations have already rejected the idea of resettling Gazans outside the enclave, signaling a significant diplomatic challenge for Trump’s vision of post-war Gaza.
The White House has not yet commented on Herzog’s statements, and officials in Cairo and Riyadh have yet to confirm the meetings. As the discussions unfold, the future of Gaza and the broader Middle East remains at a critical crossroads.
