Trump Voices Full Support for Israel’s Renewed Offensive Against Hamas

White House emphasizes Hamas’s responsibility for ceasefire breakdown and ongoing conflict.

U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly declared his unwavering support for Israel’s decision to resume its military offensive against Hamas in Gaza, following the terror group’s refusal to release Israeli hostages.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Thursday that Trump "fully supports Israel and the IDF and the actions they’ve taken in recent days." She stressed that responsibility for the renewed fighting lies squarely with Hamas, which continues to hold 59 hostages abducted during its brutal October 7 attacks.

“The president made it very clear to Hamas that if they did not release all of the hostages, there would be all hell to pay,” Leavitt remarked, condemning Hamas for “playing games in the media with lives.”

Earlier efforts led by Trump’s U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff sought to extend the ceasefire through the upcoming Passover and Ramadan holidays, proposing that Hamas release 11 living hostages and return the bodies of half the captives in its possession. While Israel accepted the terms, Hamas rejected the offer, effectively collapsing the negotiations.

As Israel launched renewed ground operations in northern Gaza, U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz warned over the weekend that Hamas was running out of time to comply and release the remaining hostages.

This firm backing from Washington underscores the enduring strategic partnership between the United States and Israel, as both nations remain steadfast in their opposition to terrorism and in their shared mission to secure the safe return of all hostages.
