Trump Calls on Israel to Quickly Conclude Conflict with Hamas
Former President Emphasizes Speed in Conflict Resolution to Mitigate Public Opinion Impact
In a recent interview with Fox News, former President Donald Trump called on Israel to "finish up" its ongoing conflict with Hamas swiftly. Trump highlighted the negative impact on Israel's global reputation, stating, "Israel is getting decimated with this publicity" and emphasizing that "Israel is not very good with public relations."
Trump reiterated his stance, stressing the importance of a quick resolution. "They've got to get this done fast, because the world is not taking lightly to it," he said, reflecting his consistent message urging rapid action.
Following Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Matt Brooks, CEO of the Republican Jewish Coalition, clarified that Trump's statements should not be seen as pressuring Israel to compromise its objectives. "Everybody misinterprets that statement. What he's basically saying is, you have a blank check. You need to carpet bomb in the air? Do it. Just get it done, rip the band aid off, finish the job," Brooks explained. He underscored the necessity of decisively defeating Hamas to prevent prolonged conflict.
Brooks supported Trump's viewpoint that time is not on Israel's side. "The longer this continues, the more public support erodes, the more international support erodes," he noted. "Trump’s point was, do what you have to do, get it done and get out."
As part of his ongoing support for Israel, Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago resort on Friday.
