Trump Warns Hamas of Total Destruction if It Rejects Gaza Peace Deal

U.S.-backed plan offers historic chance for peace, but Hamas must act or face decisive consequences.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Hamas: accept the peace deal or face complete obliteration. As negotiations to end the war in Gaza intensify, the terror group’s next move could determine the future of the region and the lives of the 48 hostages still held in captivity.

In a message exchanged with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Trump made clear that Hamas has a narrow window of opportunity to agree to terms laid out in a U.S.-backed peace initiative. “If they don’t accept, they will be obliterated,” he said. Trump’s comments underscore the gravity of the moment, as the world watches to see whether Hamas will release its remaining hostages and allow for the transition to peace.

Though initial signals from Hamas indicate a willingness to consider the proposal, the group has yet to meet the fundamental condition: freeing the hostages. Only 28 of the 48 captives are believed to still be alive. Without their release, the plan cannot proceed.

Despite concerns raised by officials like Senator Lindsey Graham who pointed out Hamas’s continued insistence on no disarmament and full control over Gaza Trump remains cautiously optimistic. “Only time will tell!!!” he responded when asked if Hamas had truly rejected the plan.

The peace proposal, introduced at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is being hailed as a landmark opportunity. Backed by major Arab nations including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar, the 20-point plan outlines a clear path toward both de-escalation and the eventual establishment of a Palestinian state.

Under the first phase, Hamas would release all hostages, prompting Israel to pull back to pre-August 2024 battle lines. In a significant gesture, Israel is also prepared to release over 1,900 Palestinian prisoners, including 250 serving life sentences. The strategic aim is to open a door for long-term stability and coexistence, while securing justice for victims of terror.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized on Sunday that this is the closest negotiators have come to achieving a full hostage release since the conflict began. “If it’s clear that the hostages aren’t going to be released and they’re playing games,” he warned, “then I think the president stated what our position is going to be.”

Trump later echoed that sentiment in a Truth Social post, calling for swift action. “There have been very positive discussions... but TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE OR, MASSIVE BLOODSHED WILL FOLLOW,” he warned. His message is clear: the world is ready for peace, but Hamas must decide whether it wants to be part of the future or swept away by its refusal to change.

With global powers aligned and unprecedented diplomatic momentum, Israel stands at a critical juncture. Should Hamas fail to meet the demands of the international community, the consequences will be swift and severe. But if it does, a new chapter could begin one rooted in peace, cooperation, and security for Israel and its neighbors.
