United Hatzalah Expands to 8,000 Volunteers with 1,000 New Recruits

Israeli emergency response organization grows to 8,000 strong, handling 2,200 daily calls.

United Hatzalah of Israel, the country’s leading volunteer emergency response organization, announced on Wednesday the addition of 1,000 new volunteers this year, bringing its total to an impressive 8,000. This milestone underscores the organization’s commitment to providing life-saving services across Israel, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Since its establishment in 2006, United Hatzalah (UH) has treated over 700,000 people at no charge. Its volunteers, including doctors, paramedics, and medics, represent all sectors of Israeli society and are stationed nationwide to ensure rapid response to emergencies.

This year alone, UH expanded its capabilities with the addition of 200 ambucycles and dozens of ambulances, further bolstering its capacity to respond to emergencies in record time.

Eli Beer, president and founder of United Hatzalah, expressed immense pride in the dedication of the organization’s volunteers. “They represent the very best of Israeli society, and it is inspiring to see how so many people from all walks of life come together to selflessly save lives,” Beer said.

He noted that the challenges of the past year have only strengthened UH’s resolve to grow. “We are determined to ensure that no emergency goes unanswered and no life is left without hope,” he added.

UH’s dispatch center handles approximately 2,200 emergency calls daily, with volunteers consistently rising to the occasion to meet the needs of the public.

Ehud Davidson, CEO of United Hatzalah, hailed the organization’s growth as a significant achievement. “The desire to contribute to the community and save lives is the driving force behind United Hatzalah's incredible growth,” Davidson said.

He also took a moment to thank the volunteers for their tireless commitment, often risking their own lives for the noble purpose of saving others. “The Israeli public’s trust in our work is what drives us forward, and we are deeply grateful for it,” Davidson concluded.

As United Hatzalah continues to expand, its unwavering commitment to saving lives stands as a testament to the spirit of Israeli unity and resilience. Share this story or subscribe to our newsletter to learn more about the incredible work being done to protect and care for communities across Israel.
