United Hatzalah Volunteer Brings Heartfelt Comfort to the Bereaved
A Beit Shemesh paramedic turns a tragedy into an act of compassion, giving grieving relatives the gift of comfort.

In a touching display of empathy and community spirit, Elhanan Ivgi, a volunteer paramedic with United Hatzalah in Ramat Beit Shemesh, went above and beyond his emergency duties to bring comfort to a grieving family in their time of sorrow.
Ivgi, who also works as an air conditioning technician, was dispatched to a Beit Shemesh home following a critical CPR emergency. As he and his team worked tirelessly to save the patient, he noticed the oppressive heat inside the house. The lack of air conditioning made an already heartbreaking situation even more unbearable.
Tragically, despite their best efforts, the patient did not survive. Learning that the family would soon sit Shiva, the traditional Jewish week of mourning, Ivgi felt compelled to do something more for them. “I just couldn’t imagine them sitting in that unbearable heat, grieving. I had to help in any way I could,” he said.
The very next day, Ivgi returned to the family’s home, not as a paramedic but in his professional capacity, installing two brand-new air conditioning units free of charge. His act of generosity quickly drew praise on social media, where many described it as “pure kindness” and “a true example of giving.”
For the bereaved family, Ivgi’s gesture was more than a practical gift. It was a heartfelt expression of care, easing their pain during a time of profound loss. Residents of Beit Shemesh and beyond have lauded Ivgi’s act as a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the quiet heroism often found in ordinary moments.
In a world where headlines are too often filled with conflict and hardship, Ivgi’s selfless actions stand as a testament to the enduring values of compassion and solidarity that define Israeli society.
