US Conducts New Airstrikes on Houthi Targets in Yemen
Ongoing American operation targets Iranian-backed terrorists after fresh attacks on Red Sea vessels.

The United States has intensified its military campaign against Houthi terrorists in Yemen, conducting a new round of airstrikes on Sunday in response to the militia’s continued attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea.
U.S. Central Command released footage of fighter jets launching from aircraft carriers, confirming strikes on strategic Houthi positions in Hodeidah and the northern province of Al-Jawf. The operation came as Houthi forces, backed by Iran, escalated their assault, targeting the USS Harry S. Truman and its accompanying vessels with a barrage of ballistic missiles and drones.
While all 11 suicide drones launched by the Houthis on Sunday were intercepted and destroyed before reaching American vessels, the group’s military spokesman, Yahya Saree, boasted of the attack and vowed further escalation. Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi reiterated the militia’s intention to continue disrupting international shipping as long as U.S. operations persist.
Speaking to Fox News, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stressed that the mission is aimed squarely at restoring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, a region where ships have come under fire for over a year. “We will restore that, and we will be unrelenting,” he stated, adding that Iran must cease its support of the Houthis or face consequences.
White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz echoed this message, revealing that recent strikes had successfully eliminated key Houthi leaders and infrastructure. “We just hit them with overwhelming force and put Iran on notice that enough is enough,” Waltz affirmed.
Since Hamas launched its October 7 attack on Israel, the Houthis have fired over 100 missiles and drones at ships in the Red Sea, sinking two vessels and killing four sailors. In parallel, they have launched more than 350 missiles and drones at Israel, positioning themselves as a significant proxy in Iran’s broader regional strategy.
The Houthis temporarily halted their attacks following the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on January 19. However, as negotiations for a lasting truce falter, the group has threatened renewed assaults on Israeli vessels.
Israel and its allies, including the United States, remain vigilant, committed to confronting Iran’s terror proxies and ensuring the safety of global maritime trade routes.
