US Must Fully Support Israel Until Hamas is Defeated, Says Mike Pence

Former Vice President Calls for Unwavering US Support in Light of Recent Attacks

Former US Vice President Mike Pence emphasized the urgent need for the United States to provide unwavering support to Israel in its fight against Hamas. Speaking to The Jerusalem Post ahead of its annual conference in New York City, Pence stressed that America's allegiance to Israel must be unequivocal until Hamas is entirely eradicated.

Pence articulated a powerful message, stating, "The only message to our most cherished ally in this dire hour should be, ‘America stands with Israel.’" Highlighting the gravity of the situation, he referenced the devastating October 7 attack, describing it as the deadliest assault on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. He insisted, "The United States must give them our full support until Hamas has been destroyed once and for all."

Throughout his political career, Pence has been a steadfast advocate for Israel. During his vice presidency from 2017 to 2021, he played a pivotal role in advancing pro-Israel policies under the Trump administration. These policies included relocating the US embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Pence has consistently underscored the importance of the US-Israel relationship in his speeches and public appearances.

Following the October 7 attack, Pence visited Israel in January to demonstrate solidarity. He met with soldiers and families affected by the violence, reinforcing the message that "The American people are with you," and affirming the US commitment to support Israel until the threat from Hamas is neutralized. Drawing parallels to the US response after 9/11, Pence insisted that Israel deserves the same unwavering support.

Pence has openly criticized attempts to limit Israel’s military actions against Hamas, arguing against President Joe Biden’s approach. He asserts that questioning Israel’s actions is akin to second-guessing the US’s post-9/11 decisions. Additionally, Pence has voiced concerns over rising antisemitism and pro-Palestinian protests in the US, reiterating that "Israel’s cause is our cause."

Pence’s dedication to Israel was further highlighted when he suspended his presidential campaign during the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Annual Leadership Summit in October 2023. He took this step to underscore his opposition to the rise of populism within the Republican Party and to emphasize the necessity of a strong foreign policy that supports Israel.

The upcoming conference in New York on June 3, organized by The Jerusalem Post, is set to be a significant event amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. This year's theme, "Israel Says Thank You," reflects the continued solidarity and support for Israel during these challenging times. The conference will feature strategic meetings and networking opportunities for diplomats, politicians, business leaders, and other key figures in the Jewish world.

Editor-in-Chief Zvika Klein highlighted the importance of the event, noting the substantial global interest in staying informed about Israel's current situation. CEO Inbar Ashkenazi emphasized the Post's role as a vital link between Israel and the world, underscoring the significance of this year's conference.

The event will be live-streamed on The Jerusalem Post’s website and social media channels, enabling a global audience to engage in these critical discussions. Last year’s conference attracted over 1.6 million online views and featured prominent Israeli politicians, further solidifying the event's role in shaping global discourse on Israel and its challenges.
