Israeli ‘Wish Ambulance’ Reunites Holocaust Survivor with Family at Wedding

A dream fulfilled as MDA’s initiative brings joy to a family on their special day.

An 85-year-old Holocaust survivor’s dream came true when Israel’s “Wish Ambulance” helped him attend his granddaughter’s wedding, creating a heartwarming moment for both the bride and groom.

Kim Nebatov, paralyzed from the waist down, longed to witness the wedding of his granddaughter Miri, who, along with her fiancé Roy Vidavsky, had to postpone their wedding several times due to the war. Both Miri and Roy, 27, are military reserve officers, and their hope was to have Kim present at their big day.

When Roy shared a plea on Instagram, searching for an ambulance that could transport Kim to the wedding, Israeli comedian and social media influencer Hanoch Daum stepped in. Daum connected with Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s volunteer emergency medical service, which operates the Wish Ambulance, a special initiative that fulfills the dreams of those with serious or terminal illnesses.

Led by paramedic Yonat Daskal Dagan, the MDA team—including medics Tomer Bar Levy and Panchas Pantel—meticulously transported Kim from his home in Tzur Yigal to the wedding venue at Moshav Agur. The ambulance was equipped with advanced medical systems tailored to Kim’s needs, ensuring his comfort and safety throughout the journey.

With tears in his eyes, Kim embraced Miri and Roy and blessed the couple, making their wedding day even more memorable. After the ceremony, the Wish Ambulance team safely returned Kim to his home, bringing joy not only to him but to the entire family.

“We are incredibly thankful to the MDA Wish Ambulance team for making our grandfather Kim’s wish come true and, in turn, fulfilling our own wish,” Miri and Roy said, expressing their gratitude to both the MDA and Hanoch Daum.

Paramedic Dagan reflected on the experience: “Kim’s wish touched us deeply, and seeing the smiles on his face and those of Miri and Roy was worth every effort. We wish the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness and good health to the wonderful Kim.”

The dedication of the Wish Ambulance team brought immense joy to a family that has faced many challenges, reminding us of the power of kindness and compassion in making dreams a reality.
