US Envoy Witkoff and Amb. Huckabee Tour Gaza Aid Site Amid Hostage Deal Stalemate
With ceasefire talks frozen, Washington and Jerusalem double down on humanitarian aid and pressure on Hamas.

As ceasefire negotiations with Hamas remain at an impasse, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee toured the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distribution site in Rafah on Friday. The visit underscores growing US-Israeli cooperation to both increase humanitarian aid and maintain pressure on Hamas.
Witkoff’s arrival in Israel and his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday signal a pivotal moment in diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis. Israeli officials have warned that unless Hamas agrees to meaningful terms soon, the IDF may escalate its operations in Gaza to force a resolution.
During the aid site visit, Ambassador Huckabee praised the work of the GHF, a US-launched initiative that has already provided over 100 million meals in just two months. “Hamas hates GHF because it gets food to people without it being looted by Hamas,” he noted on social media.
Witkoff and Huckabee’s inspection of the site sends a clear message: the United States is deeply committed to addressing humanitarian needs while backing Israel’s right to defend itself and secure the release of its hostages. According to senior Israeli officials, discussions during the Netanyahu-Witkoff meeting included strategies to shift negotiation frameworks, address the hostage crisis, and confront regional threats, particularly from Iran.
President Donald Trump added his voice to the evolving narrative earlier this week, disputing claims that there is no hunger in Gaza. Speaking from his golf resort in Scotland, Trump stated, “There are people who are hungry in Gaza we are helping them, but other countries need to help as well.” Reports from US officials indicate that both he and First Lady Melania Trump were moved by distressing images of starving children, prompting a renewed US push for humanitarian engagement.
To this end, Israel and the US have reinvigorated efforts to deliver aid including food airdrops into Gaza. These operations, conducted in coordination with the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Egypt, are designed to bypass Hamas and ensure assistance reaches civilians directly.
“We secured the skies, secured the drops, and made sure the food got through,” the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office declared in a recent social media post. “Any country that truly wants to help is welcome to join us.”
As diplomatic and humanitarian efforts move forward in tandem, Israel remains firm in its demand for Hamas to release all hostages and halt its campaign of terror. Until then, support for the innocent lives affected must continue with strength, clarity, and unity.
