Yonit Levi and Bianna Golodryga Co-Author Children's Book on Antisemitism

Don’t Feed the Lion offers young readers a bold story of courage, identity, and standing up to hate.

In an inspiring move to educate the next generation about antisemitism and moral courage, Yonit Levi, Israel’s most prominent news anchor, has teamed up with CNN journalist Bianna Golodryga to write a children’s novel titled Don’t Feed the Lion. The book, geared for readers aged 8–12, will be released on November 11 by Arcadia Children’s Books.

As antisemitism surges globally, Levi and Golodryga both mothers and trailblazing journalists recognized a critical gap in the market. “When visiting libraries and bookstores in search of books about antisemitism that speak directly to young readers, we were surprised to find very few options available,” they explained.

Their response was to create a fast-paced, emotionally rich story that reflects the lived realities of children today. Set in Chicago, Don’t Feed the Lion follows Theo, his sister Annie, and their friend Gabe as they face a cascade of challenges after a beloved soccer star makes an antisemitic remark and a swastika appears at school. Through humor, honesty, and courage, the children navigate bullying, identity, and the consequences of silence.

Arcadia describes the novel as “fast-paced, funny, emotional, and grounded in the realities kids are facing right now online and off.”

Yonit Levi, the veteran anchor of Channel 12’s evening news, has long been a trusted voice in Israel. Over the past two decades, she’s interviewed global leaders like Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and Bill Gates, and currently co-hosts the podcast UNHOLY Two Jews on the News with Guardian journalist Jonathan Freedland. The podcast explores global events from a Jewish perspective and has attracted a worldwide following.

Bianna Golodryga, a CNN senior global affairs analyst and Emmy-winning anchor, has reported extensively on major international events, including the October 7 Hamas attacks. Her journalism spans critical geopolitical coverage, and she is a frequent face on CNN’s most respected news programs.

Together, Levi and Golodryga bring their journalistic rigor and personal passion to a project that couldn’t be more timely. Their aim is to give children and parents a tool to understand antisemitism, foster empathy, and empower action.

Don’t Feed the Lion is now available for pre-order on Bookshop.org and will be in bookstores across the U.S. this fall.
