Zamir Visits Nevatim Airbase Amid Iran Tensions and F-35I Expansion

IDF Chief of Staff says the Israel Air Force is prepared to defeat any threat as new Adir fighter jets bolster operational capabilities.

As tensions with Iran simmer across the region, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir made a high-profile visit to Nevatim Airbase this week, underscoring the Israel Air Force’s frontline role in defending the nation. The visit, aimed at assessing the IAF’s preparedness and observing the integration of the newest F-35I “Adir” fighter jets, highlighted Israel’s continued focus on air superiority and rapid response capabilities.

“The Air Force is at the forefront of offensive and defensive efforts in near and far arenas over the past two years of fighting,” Zamir told pilots and commanders during his tour. He praised the IAF for amassing unique operational experience and stressed that the military is constantly learning, adapting, and improving its readiness for sudden escalations.

The visit was conducted alongside IAF Chief of Staff Brig.-Gen. Gilad Keinan and senior commanders at Nevatim, home to Israel’s elite F-35 squadrons. Three new F-35I jets joined the fleet this week, marking a key milestone in strengthening Israel’s air dominance and deterrence power.

Zamir emphasized the F-35’s role as a strategic force multiplier, capable of operating across multiple theaters with unmatched precision and stealth. “We will continue strengthening the air force in the coming years as a decisive strategic arm, ready to meet and defeat any challenge,” he declared.

In addition to offensive operations, Zamir reviewed procedures for rapid deployment and layered missile defense. The IDF is refining its readiness for fast-breaking scenarios, especially amid growing concerns of Iranian aggression and proxy activity across the region.

Zamir also noted the seamless cooperation between the IAF, Military Intelligence, and other IDF branches, saying this joint operational framework is what enables Israel to launch effective preemptive and retaliatory strikes throughout the Middle East to eliminate threats before they reach Israeli civilians.

In recent weeks, the IDF has conducted broader reviews of air-defense units, focusing on both modernization and strategic coordination. These efforts are part of a long-term military transformation plan, aimed at ensuring Israel’s qualitative edge remains unchallenged.

Zamir's visit comes at a time when deterrence and operational readiness are more critical than ever. With Iran and its regional proxies continuing to threaten Israeli sovereignty, the IDF is sending a clear message: Israel is prepared, equipped, and willing to act decisively.

Israel’s commitment to defense innovation and strategic preparedness remains unwavering always ready to safeguard its citizens and its future.
