Judea Flourishes: The Dawn of Three New Communities!

In a significant move forward, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently delineated the boundaries of three burgeoning communities in the historic Judea region. This paves the way for the official inclusion under Israeli law of nine settlements that had already gained the nod from the government earlier this year.

Nestled in the serene South Hebron Hills are the towns of Avigayil and Asael. A short distance away, near the captivating Dead Sea, is Beit Hogla, an addition to the Megilot Regional Council. This initiative is not just about land, but about nurturing the Israeli spirit and the age-old ties to its ancestral homeland.

Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai, the IDF Ground Forces Commander, played a crucial role by signing the order that framed the legal contours of these communities. This news was shared with the public by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who also oversees civilian matters in Judea and Samaria at the Defense Ministry.

Expressing his excitement on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Smotrich highlighted, “The settlements are experiencing a renaissance.” He added that Israel’s national government is steadfast in its “Zionist, nationalist policy” and sees the growth of Judea and Samaria settlements as a tremendous asset.

Shlomo Neeman, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council and Chairman of the Yesha Council, commended the move as “a meaningful stride forward”. He extended his gratitude towards Minister Smotrich and his dedicated team for championing the cause and fostering the growth of communities in Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley.

Historically speaking, these communities aren’t entirely new. Their roots trace back decades. However, they had been waiting in the wings for their formal recognition. A decision in February by the Diplomatic-Security Cabinet sought to finalize the status of these nine settlements, which till now, had operated without the conveniences many of us take for granted, such as stable electricity and water supplies.

Post this resolution, the region saw a flurry of developmental activities. From the IDF Central Command initiating much-needed security measures to the National Missions Ministry reinforcing the communities’ defense, the commitment to these settlements has been unwavering.

The IDF articulated its dedication to these projects, stating that following the decision, a comprehensive plan was set into motion. This plan prioritized security, infrastructure, and the overall well-being of the residents.

As Israel continues to flourish and expand, these new communities in Judea underscore the nation’s unwavering commitment to its heritage, values, and the dream of creating a homeland that celebrates its past while forging ahead into a promising future. Embracing these settlements, Israel not only nurtures its land but also the indomitable spirit of its people.
